PEMBROKESHIRE CRICKET

There was an abundance of excitement in the Division Two clash between Cresselly 2nds and visitors Llechryd with the game ending in a tie and both team picking up 17 points.

Steffan Jenkins was the mainstay of the Cresselly innings as he made a brilliant unbeaten 72 including eight boundaries and he was given excellent support from Nick Jones (35) and Mathew Lewis (33) as the innings closed on

192-7.

Super veteran seamer Peter Betterley bowled line and length in taking three wickets for 25 runs while skipper Graham Keen, John Curran and Nick North picked up a wicket apiece.

Curran led the Llechryd run chase with 73 and also in fine fettle was Dewi Davies who made 51 but the Teifisiders could not quite pass the home total and ended on 192-7 for a tied match.

Cresselly top scorer Jenkins was also on form with the ball in taking two wickets for 22 and there was one wicket each for Mathew Webb, Mathew Lewis and Morgan Lewis.

Put in at the RDM Oval, Llechryd 2nds side posted 119-8 on a tricky wicket and damp outfield against Haverfordwest 3rds in Division Three.

Oliver Roberts held the innings together with a fine knock of 48 and was given support by Scott Thomas who made 19 in the lower order.

For the visitors Jason Phillips picked up four wickets for 29 runs while Mathew Vaughan bowled tightly in returning figures of 1-17 in nine overs.

Haverfordwest also found run-making difficult against accurate bowling and sharp ground fielding with the visitors ending on 93-6 thanks mainly to John Tooze at number eight who was unbeaten on 37 as the game ended in a

draw.

For Llechryd medium-pacer Ben Graham took three wickets for 19 runs and Peter Gregory returned figures of 2-11 in nine overs.

Llechryd banked 18 points with the visitors picking up ten points.

A brilliant innings of 104 not out by opener Sam Kurtz was the highlight as Crymych roared to a nine-wicket win over Hook 2nds in Division Four at Glandy Cross.

Hook posted 160-8 with Lloyd Graysham making 88 and Connor Bowen contributing 23 as home medium-pacer Ioan Davies took two wickets.

With Kurtz scoring freely the Preselimen reached the target for the loss of one wicket and picked up 29 points.
