Driver Dyfrig James Tegfan and navigator Emyr Jones are on top of the world after being crowned winners of the Cilwendeg Rally organised by the Teifi Valley Motor Club.

This annual event that saw 90 cars taking part on Saturday night in to Sunday morning in the Teifi Valley area.

“It’s been Dyfrig’s ambition since he was a child to take part in the Cilwendeg and to win it. He used to go and watch the Cilwendeg as a child with his father. It’s been a lifetime ambition for him,” said Catrin, Dyfrig’s wife.

Dyfrig and Emyr have been rallying together since Dyfrig passed his driving test at 17. They both did a season of forestry rallies – the BTRDA 1400 where they won their class for the year.

Dyfrig added: “Emyr is an experienced navigator and when I passed my test, not many experienced navigators wanted to sit by such a young driver, but Emyr gave me the opportunity and we’ve been rallying together ever since.”

Catrin added: “Nearly every year, they’ve been competing in the Cilwendeg but haven’t had much luck until now. They’ve had several great results on other rallies and won the Bro Teifi in 2013 and the 1000 Lanes Rally in Abergavenny in the same year, but the Cilwendeg Rally is the one they both wanted to win.”

The Teifi Valley Motor Club thanked its main sponsors Forge Garage Aberaeron and paid tribute to all involved in organising the event and ensuring it ran smoothly.
