The Costcutter Ceredigion Football League is on a high after a select team sprang a brilliant 5-0 win over their Cambrian Tyres League counterparts at Park Avenue in Aberystwyth.
Such was the dominance of the Costcutter side that all their players were afterwards selected for a combined Costcutter and Cambrian Tyres squad in a second trial game against a combined Mid Wales League South and JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur League side at Newtown this Sunday.
As the visitors turned on the style there were a number of excellent performances, none more so than that of Newcastle Emlyn midfielder Craig Gordon who gave his skills a thorough airing.
Costcutter goal-scorers were Adrian Hazzelby (NC Emlyn 2), Jake Kelly (NC Emlyn), George Cohen (Crannog) and Rhys Jones (St Dogmaels).
Squad for Sunday: Goalkeepers: Graham Keen (Maesglas) and Justin Smith (St Dogmaels); Sam Skinner, Huw Jones, Craig Gordon, Adrian Hazzelby, Jake Kelly, David Davies (NC Emlyn); Rhys Davies, Mike Glover, George Colven (Crannog); Jason Williams, Rhys Jones (St Dogmaels); Marc Evans, Christy Gale, Jason Jones (Lampeter Town); John Lumb (Cardigan Town).
Long-serving league secretary Geraint Davies said "After the trial games a number of our players must stand a very good chance of being selected for the select Central Wales team.
"Football in our neck of the woods is obviously on a high after playing the Cambrian Tyres League off the park," he said.
