Costcutter Football League circles have been stunned by an exodus of stars from reigning champions and J Emrys Morgan Cup holders Llandysul.

Highly-rated Terry Maynard, Scott Thomas, Ian Barrett and Ben Thomas have left for family and other reasons to be nearer Carmarthen while talented midfielder Adrian Hazzelby has joined Newcastle Emlyn – he made a sensational debut for the Reds at home against Dewi Stars on Saturday with three goals in the first half and another strike after the interval as Emlyn powered to a 7-1 win.

Despite last season's title winning side being decimated manager Chris Coco Davies was not despondent and was optimistic over the future.

The boss has moved to sign up and coming 18-year-old midfielder Scott Jones from Abergwili and another extremely promising teenager Carwyn Morgan of Pencader is expected to sign this week.

With the likes of outstanding central defender Dean Jones, Josh Baker, speedy striker Simon Davies and others to call upon boss Davies told the Tivy-Side: "It's just one of those things but there is no cause for alarm. On the contrary, I am upbeat and confident the players will do the club proud."

A select Costcutter League side was scheduled to take on a Cambrian Tyres League select Xl at Aberystwyth's Park Avenue last night (Monday) without any Llandysul players taking part.
