There are celebrations at Llechryd Cricket Club after super veteran Peter Betterley was selected by the England and Wales Cricket Board Over 70s to tour Australia in March next year.
The seamer had an outstanding season for Llechryd firsts in Division Two of the Pembroke County League, consistently bowling line and length and recording impressive figures week in and week out.
He represented Wales Over 70s last term and his performances caught the eyes of selectors who included him in the tour party.
The touring team will play a five test match series Down Under at Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.
A delighted Peter told the Tivy-Side: "I am still enjoying my cricket immensely and I'm absolutely over the moon to be selected."
In the meantime the Llechryd annual presentation lunch is being held at
the Cliff Hotel in Gwbert this Sunday starting at 1pm when a warm welcome is
extended to anyone interested in attending. Further details can be obtained
from club secretary Dewi Davies on 07767 298440.
