Just a few weeks ago there were hopes of Llechryd gaining promotion in Division Two of the Pembroke County Cricket League, but below-par performances have seen the Teifisiders slide down the table to fifth with one game remaining.

In their penultimate outing Llechryd were dismissed for 61 runs away against Haverfordwest 2nds who included a crop of first-teamers in their line-up.

Graham Keen (15 not out ) and Josh Ward (14) were the only two batsmen to reach double figures as wickets tumbled with home seamer Kieran O'Connor returning the excellent figures of 5-19 and Adam James picking up two wickets.

As the homesters eased to victory and 26 points first team regular Ben Field was unbeaten on 43 and his opening partner Dan Cole not out 17.

It is an entirely different situation in respect of Llechryd Seconds who clinched promotion in Division Four after a winning draw against their Hook counterparts at the RDM Oval.

The Teifisiders are five points clear of the rest and an away win over Saundersfoot 2nds on Saturday would almost certainly give them the title from Narberth 2nds.

In an entertaining contest Llechryd posted 148-8 thanks mainly to skipper Andrew Fletcher (42), all-rounder Peter Gregory (31) and young Joe Mansfield (28).

Hook finished 15 runs short of the target on 133-9 as Malcolm McHugh snapped three wickets.
