Cardigan Rugby Club head coach Colin Horscroft has left the club for financial reasons and there are no immediate plans to find a successor.
The popular former hooker with the club and Newcastle Emlyn was at the
helm for two seasons at King George V Playing Field where last season he
took the senior side to within a whisker of promotion in Division Three and
semi-final of the Swalec Bowl before going down against eventual winners
Amman United.
A club spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Colin Horscroft is no
longer head coach. The whole matter revolves around financial restraints on
our budget.
"Senior players will be in charge of training and other issues and if
things improve hopefully we will be in a position to appoint a replacement
for Colin, but there are no immediate plans in this direction and certainly
not before the start of season 2017-2018.
"We would like to express sincere thanks to Colin for his efforts on
behalf of Cardigan RFC and wish him well for the future," said the
spokesperson.
The club has arranged an away friendly game against Pontyberem on
Saturday, August 19 and confirmation is awaited in respect of a friendly
against Pontyclun a week earlier.
