After the previous Saturday's second win of the season at Aberdare there were high hopes of Llandysul following up at home against Gorseinon in

Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association.

But in the event a very disappointing batting performance let the Teifisiders down and they crashed to an eight wicket defeat – it completed a double for the visitors who won by six wickets in May.

A four-wicket win by Merthyr Tydfil over Cowbridge enabled them to slip

out of the relegation zone and send Llandysul to second from bottom with

five games remaining.

Andrew Edwards and colleagues face a tough assignment this weekend when visiting leaders Bronwydd.

Put in on a lively wicket Llandysul struggled against accurate bowling

with only opener Ieuan Paske (21) and Ben Edkins at first wicket down who contributed 31, reaching double figures and the homesters were all out for 79 in 33.2 overs.

Seamer Ashley Pass was virtually unplayable as he returned the outstanding figures of six wickets for eight runs in ten overs, four of which were maidens.

As Gorseinon knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets in 14.4

overs opener and skipper Greg Fisher was unbeaten on 38.
