Saturday is crunch time for Llandysul in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association as the rock bottom Teifisiders visit fellow relegation-haunted rivals Briton Ferry Steel.

As it stands the Steelmen are in eighth place, 29 points ahead of the Teifisiders who must really look for a win if they are to avoid the dreaded drop – there are eight games remaining after the vital clash this weekend.

A week last Saturday the Llandysul batting collapsed against Llanelli but there was more backbone about the performance against second in the table Cowbridge at Tir-Dref despite another defeat.

Put in on a good batting strip, the homesters posted a more than useful 269-5 in 50 overs, with classy opener Gary Williams hitting nine boundaries in an unbeaten 80 and he was given excellent support from Ben Edkins who was unbeaten on 57.

With only one club promoted to the South Wales Premier League skipper Chris Willey and his Cowbridge team-mates are hoping to overhaul leaders Bronwydd who are currently 13 points clear and visit the Athletic Ground this Saturday.

The South Walians got the got the runs at Llandysul for the loss of five wickets with Ben Wright, Tom Merilaht and Jon Hubsmidt to the fore.
