For the first time this season all games in five divisions of the Pembroke County Cricket League were cancelled on Saturday due to the wet weather.

Meanwhile as the halfway stage approaches in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association, the weather gave bottom of the pile Llandysul time to think about the mammoth task they face to turn things around and avoid the drop into the Second Division.

After seven weeks of the season the Teifisiders are still searching for that elusive first win having lost four, been involved in two losing draws while last Saturday's home encounter with bottom but one Merthyr Tydfil fell victim to the weather.

There have been some creditable batting performances, in particular from opener Gary Williams who made 107 last time out at Gowerton, and also hit 86 against Aberdare and 78 at Dafen.

Rhydian Harries at first wicket down made 53 at Gorseinon while Llewellyn Hughes scored a half century at home against Aberdare and 72 at Dafen, but there have been too many others who have failed with the willow.

The Tir Dref men visit sixth in the table Llanelli this Saturday and end the first half of the campaign at third-placed Cowbridge.

At the start of the second half Llandysul visit third from bottom Briton Ferry Steel, currently 27 points ahead of the basement boys, who really need a morale-boosting victory at Ynysymaerdy Road to give hope of retaining their Division One status.
