Pencader lifted the South Cards Cup for the first time since 2010 with a top notch and confident performance in emerging 5-0 winners over Llanboidy in a final that drew a sizeable crowd to Llandysul Park.

Since season 2004-5 the competition has been between first teams that play in Division Two of the Costcutter League and reserve teams if their firsts compete in Division One.

The Reds controlled the tempo of the game virtually throughout, getting off the mark with a goal in the opening minutes and not looking back.

That early strike came from speedy front-runner Ashley Summers who went on to complete a hat-trick, the attacking livewire hitting two goals in the first half along with one from Daniel Jones that put the Reds out of sight.

Summers hit his third during the second period with Jones again on target and midfielder Craig Gordon also finding the net.

In recognition of the final being staged at Llandysul the trophy was presented to Reds skipper Chris Stevens by Llandysul manager Chris 'Coco' Davies.

St Dogmaels and Felinfach provided first-rate entertainment in a Division One game at School Field when Saints won 4-3 with a sensational injury time winner.

Ioan Owen and Adam Williams netted early on for the homesters and John Midgley made it 3-3 before going off injured and was replaced by veteran manager Steve Jerry Williams who made the biggest of impacts.

As the game moved into time added on the 43-year-old boss turned back the years when meeting a cross and netting with a superb diving header.

As it stands Bargod Rangers and New Quay are in the relegation spots in Division One with champions Ffostrasol and runners-up Pencader holding

promotion positions in the Second Division.

Whether that scenario prevails will be resolved at the next meeting of the league management committee at Ffostrasol on Tuesday, June 6, when the

structure for next term is to be discussed.

The league annual general meeting is on Tuesday, July 4, and in all probability will be at Ffostrasol at 7.30pm.
