The Teifi Boating Club in Patch near Cardigan held its open day when children were given the opportunity of having free sailing taster sessions.
βIt was a great success, the sun shone and the wind blew (not too much) and lots of families turned up and both children and their parents had a go. We had lots of smiley faces keen to continue,β said Ian Carswell who trains the junior members.
"A few families were a bit late for the tide and were referred on to the Sunday and 11 children turned up and had a lovely time."
He added: The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) 'Push The Boat Out' initiative is a great idea and allowed us to hold the invitation event together with our open day. Some parents had no idea what to expect and some children were very apprehensive but all had a fabulous time and are looking forward to sailing as their sport. And doesn't west Wales lend itself to that!β
