Despite the batting on occasions appearing to falter, Llechryd dug deep and emerged winners by 79 runs over visitors Llanrhian at the RDM Oval.

Having first use of a flat track the Teifisiders lost wickets but were able to post a defendable total of 152-6 in the allotted 45 overs.

Ollie Burton led the way with a well-compiled 51 which included seven boundaries and he was given excellent support from Llewellyn Ladd who made an unbeaten 34 and Drew Davies (18 not out).

Medium-pacers Mathew Bennett and Dafydd Williams picked up two wickets apiece.

The visitors started in determined fashion and appeared to be on course but were soon pinned down by accurate bowling and sharp fielding.

Bowling line and length super veteran Peter Betteley snapped four wickets for 19 runs in 12 overs and was ably supported by Leighton O'Connor (3-14) and Graham Keen (2-35) as Llanrhian were dismissed for 73, giving the homesters 28 points.

Crymych of Division Four have made an encouraging start to the season and at this early stage are joint leaders with Burton 2nds and Narberth 2nds.

As the Preselimen ran out away winners by 147 runs over Saundersfoot 2nds it was all about opener Richard Thorne who wielded the willow in carrying his bat for a brilliant unbeaten 165 as the visitors posted a formidable total of 275-5.

Saundersfoot were bowled out for 128 with Alan Luke and Vernon Beynon snapping three wickets each.

In the same division Llechryd 2nds went down to a nine-wicket away defeat against early joint leaders Narberth 2nds.

Batting first the visitors posted 148-9 thanks mainly to a fine innings of 59 by Andrew Fletcher but it was not enough as Narberth with Chris Spratt (85 not out) in good form knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket.
