Llandysul started the season in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association with a losing draw against visitors Briton Ferry Steel.

Put in on a flat track the visitors lost Lee Rhys Williams caught by Andrew Edwards off Dean Jones for a duck and Gareth Davies was bowled by Jones for four.

Craig Evans at number three steadied the boat and Luke O'Connor hit five boundaries in his 30.

But the fireworks were still to come from the visitors who were tottering on 74-8 when the last two Thomas Williams and Daryl Phillips took a liking to the home attack.

Williams wielded the willow to good effect in making an unbeaten 50, which included eight boundaries and Phillips was 13 not out at the end of the 50 overs as Steel banked 15 points.

Dean Jones and Ian March snapped four wickets apiece.

In reply Llandysul were never up with the required rate and struggled to 116 for three and eight points.

Llandysul Seconds fared better than the seniors in springing a 60-run win over their Llandeilo counterparts in Division Six West.

In a Llandysul total of 150 Huw Evans and Joseph Swift both made 55 and when Llandeilo replied and were dismissed for 90 Aled Jones picked up three wickets.
