CRYMYCH twins Ioan and Garan Croft returned to winning ways at a show by Highfields ABC at Doncaster's Skellow Grange Social Club on Friday.

Southpaw Ioan boxed Edward Hardy, of Highfields, who proved a strong front foot boxer and managed to initially tangle up his Cardigan ABC opponent.

By the second round Croft had had started to get his range and was picking Hardy off with some nice clean shots, although the Yorkshire boy continued to flail away without really landing anything substantial.

By the third Croft had control and went on to win on a unanimous points decision.

Garan's bout with fellow Welshman Levi Smith (St Peters ABC) proved a cracker from start to finish.

Smith, a strong front foot boxer, drew Garan into a ruck in the first but a good talking-to from Cardigan ABC head coach Guy Croft saw Garan get back to his boxing in the second and he started to nail Smith with some lovely right hands.

“I had them one round each by the end of the second and told Garan so,” said Croft senior. “The third round was action-packed with Garan starting to put some nice combinations together with his right hand and left hooks taking control.

“Levi just seemed to walk through his left jabs, but Garan won on a unanimous decision after three exhausting rounds.”
