RUGBY ROUND-UP

MID-TABLERS Crymych completed a League 1 West double over high-flying Gorseinon with a committed showing in a 12-10 win at Parc Lloyd Thomas.

The north Pembrokeshire villagers led 5-3 after the opening 40 minutes, their points coming from a try by winger Lawrence Headlam with outside half Jack Gronow landing a penalty for the visitors.

Third in the table Gorseinon hit back early in the second period with a try by fullback Andrew Steele converted by Gronow, but the Preselimen would not be denied and got a second score through flanker Dylan Phillips, converted by Tomos Phillips.

Pembroke Dock Quins could muster only 14 players for the final League 3 West A encounter at Cardigan and were taken apart at the seams as the Cardis won 106-0.

It was all over before the interval as Llyr Griffiths and Co led 40-0 and upped the tempo during the second period when notching a further 66 points.

As the visitors were completely outclassed home tries came via centre Emyr Harries who led the rout with four touchdowns, fullback Alun Jenkins (2), scrum-half Luke Rogers (2), winger Rhydian Jenkins (2), replacement centre Llyr Edwards, prop Ben Hughes and centre Sion Hughes with Rogers landing 12 conversions and Luke Palmer-Davies converting one of the scores.
