MEMBERS of Cardigan Sea Angling club gathered together for their annual dinner and trophy presentation evening on Saturday, in the Gwbert Golf Club.

A splendid evening and delicious meal was enjoyed by all 29 members who attended. Phillipa Noble from Castaway Fishing Tackle shop in Cardigan , had the honour of presenting the numerous trophies to the jubilant winners in all categories ,for the 2016 competitions held all around our beautiful Welsh coastline .

The winner of the Junior League Champion shield was nine-year-old Callum Kilsby from Newcastle Emlyn, who gathered several awards for different species of fish. Apart from the championship trophy for most points, he was also awarded individual trophies for catching the biggest bass and flounder of the season in his league.

The Senior League Champion this year, was the secretary Kevin Copeland of Moylegrove, another very worthy winner who landed additional trophies for catching the Best Shore Caught Fish of the season and runner up for Longest Bag, plus Most Species, Species Hunt, Flattie Bash, and Biggest Rocklin of the year trophies and shields.

The other proud winners in the senior league were Julian Webb ,who was awarded the Runner up Club Champion, Biggest Pollock and Best Newcomer. The new chairman, Martin Campion of Lampeter, was awarded the Best Species Fish, Ballan Wrasse and Biggest Mackerel.

Haydyn Butt was the winner of the Best Attendance shield and Wil Irvin, who was not able to attend the function, was awarded trophies for Biggest Whiting, Dogfish and Longest Bag, in his absence.

The usual raffle was then held and all members received a prize each, which were donated by club members and Castaway shop.

The club is eager to recruit more members in the ladies and junior leagues to help swell the membership, children under 16 are to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
