THERE is no doubt that when on song Crymych are a match for any side in League 1 West and showed this at Parc Lloyd Thomas when rising to the occasion and notching a thrilling 22-20 win over leaders Kidwelly.

In avenging a 36-15 defeat at Parc Stephens on the second Saturday of the campaign the Preselimen chalked up win number eight from 13 outings and although eight points off the promotion zone have nine games remaining to

mount a push for the top.

The north Pembrokeshire villagers have suffered from inconsistency this term with a 29-3 defeat at Waunarlwydd earlier this month a low point but there were smiles all round at the weekend after they inflicted only the second defeat on the Black and Ambers.The Crymych points scoring was led by talented half-back Rhys Davies who landed five penalties and two conversions for a personal tally of 19.

All-action lock Dion Gibby got an early try for the homesters, the score converted by Davies before Kidwelly scrum-half Lee Evans landed a penalty and also converted a penalty try awarded for a scrummaging offence.

Davies landed a second penalty but Kidwelly took a 17-13 win at halftime after winger Sion Peace raced over for a try converted by Evans.

Roared on by a partisan crowd and with backrower and skipper Tom Powell leading by example the Preselimen repelled all Kidwelly raids and the visitors could call on only an Evans penalty.

That man Davies hoisted a further three penalties to grab a memorable victory for his side.

Cardigan and Neyland were under strength for the League 3 West A clash at King George V Playing Field but it was the Cardis who prevailed with an emphatic 45-3 win.

When the rivals met at the Athletic Ground in Neyland earlier in the season the Pembrokeshire All Blacks edged the verdict but on this occasion never threatened to take control of the game.

Llyr Griffiths and team-mates led 33-3 at the break and crossed for two tries after the interval.

Winger Rhydian Jenkins opened the try scoring and then skipper Griffiths bagged a brace of tries with centres Sion Hughes and John Lumb also crossing.

Mark Riley landed a penalty for the visitors.

During the second period left-winger Dafydd Watkins and Hughes again got tries and outside half Iestyn Crompton landed a fifth penalty.
