JAMIE Lewis of Cardigan suffered one of his worst ever defeats as he was outclassed in the William Hill World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace in London.
The 25-year-old was blown away by four sets to nil by Scotsman and world number three Peter Wright who only dropped one of 12 legs.
After reaching the second round for the first time in five attempts the Welshman was under the cosh from the word go as 43-year-old Suffolk-based Wright threw spectacular darts.
The opening set was over in a flash as Wright romped it with double 10, double 12 and double 20 finishes.
He also sprang a 3-0 win in the second set with a 71 finish, a spectacular 144 out and hit double 16 in the third leg.
Wright pinned double 14 and took out 74 to make it eight legs on the bounce before Lewis finally won a leg with a 110 finish, but that was his only taste of success as his opponent made it 3-0 in sets with a double 16 finish.
In completing a sets whitewash Wright took out 89 on the bull before finishing on 110 and 130.
