No football - shopping
THERE was only one fixture in the three divisions of the Costcutter Ceredigion Football League on Saturday and there will be no action until Boxing Day.
Pointing to fixture backlogs at the end of most seasons some followers felt that it was not a prudent move to call off fixtures on a Saturday.
But the league management committee decided there should be a free weekend to enable everyone connected with the sport locally to do their Christmas shopping.
Making it clear that everything was running smoothly in regard to fixtures, league secretary Geraint Davies said: "Division One leaders Llandysul have already completed 12 of their 22 league games and other clubs are also well advanced.
"With no problems envisaged we decided to enter into the festive spirit and give everyone a Christmas break," he said.
