CARDIGAN-born archer Jodie Grinham claimed silver on her Paralympic debut at Rio 2016.
Jodie helped claim Britain’s 59th medal of the Rio Games alongside John Stubbs as the pair took the runner-up spot in the mixed team compound open.
She was unable to add to her medal success after she bowed out in the quarter-final of the women’s individual compound (open).
She lost 137-136 to Iran’s Somayeh Abbaspour in the quarters having beaten Italy’s EleoNora Sarti 133-132 in the last 16 round earlier in the day having qualified through in tenth.
The archer, aged 23, was born with no fingers and half a thumb on her left hand and a short left arm, first got involved in archery in 2008 when she saw her Dad shooting at their local club and decided she would like to give the sport a go.
Now based in Telford, she trains at Silvercloud in Crawley under coach Rikki Bingham.
After going through the Archery GB National Talent Development Programme, Jodie was selected to join the GB squad in 2014.
Her biggest achievement before Rio came last year at the Para World Ranking Tournament in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic where she won a bronze mixed team medal.
