Easy points for Llechryd

WITH bottom club Hook 2nds failing to raise a team for the Pembrokeshire League Division Three game at Llechryd's Castle Malgwyn ground the hosts picked up a maximum points haul and moved into second behind Saundersfoot.

The Teifisiders now have two games left to clinch promotion - relegated Crymych are the visitors on Saturday and the final game is at Pembroke Dock.

Doomed Crymych turned in their best performance of a disappointing campaign for them when springing a 35-run away win against Pembroke Dock.

Having first use of a good track the Preselimen posted 230-4 thanks mainly to a brilliant innings of 124 from opener Richard Thorne who was given great support from Harry Thomas (55).

Craig Butland (69) and Peter Kingdom (57) were the main contributors for the Dock who were dismissed for 195 as Seth Williams returned figures of 3-39 and there were two wickets for Andrew Thomas.

Newly-crowned Division Four champions Johnston 2nds were pushed hard by visitors Llechryd 2nds before winning by four wickets.

As the Teifi Valley visitors posted 197-5 Andrew Fletcher followed up his previous Saturday's ton with a fine innings of 54, opener Michael Carter made 50 and Dewi Davies contributed 30.

The new champions got the runs for the loss of six wickets.
