Llandysul held to draw

ALTHOUGH held to a draw by visiting bottom of the pile Skewen, a 17 points haul made absolutely certain of safety for Llandysul in the South Wales Cricket Association Division One.

Put in on a flat Tyr-Dref wicket the homesters posted an impressive 240-5 in the allotted overs as they got off to a good start through Gary Williams (41) and Meurig Jones (12) who shared in an opening stand of 31.

Llewellyn Hughes at first wicket down made a fine 55, Rhydian Harries continued his purple patch with 46, Ben Edkins at number five made 49 which included five fours and a six and lower down the order Carwyn Evans contributed 28.

The visitors put on 41 for the first wicket through Mark Williams (17) and Dean Kriescher (19) and Jonathan Lewis made 68, including eleven fours before being bowled by Harries and at the close Skewen were 200 for the loss of seven wickets.

Llandysul 2nds slumped to their 13th defeat in Division Five as Kidwelly won by nine wickets.
