Given that these are early days, Llechryd Cricket Club firsts and seconds are flying high in the Pembrokeshire League Division Three and Division Four respectively.

The firsts sprang a seven-wicket win over Herbrandston at the Castle Malgwyn ground while the seconds were winners by four wickets against their Narberth counterparts.

Although it was not the strongest Herbrandston line-up the Teifisiders did the job clinically and at one stage looked as if they’d win by ten wickets.

Batting first the visitors were restricted to a modest total of 95-9 with Harry Nicholas unbeaten on 38 and Shaun Gelona contributing 21.

Left arm seamer Peter Betterley returned figures of 3-11 in nine overs while Tom Beard took two wickets for five runs.

In the home reply Michael Carter (37 not out) and Johnnie Lewis (34) went along steadily and gave their team a solid start.

Despite losing Lewis, Llewellyn Ladd and Winston Williams the Teifisiders got the runs for the loss of three wickets and picked up 27 points to move into second.

Narberth 2nds posted 129-8 with Huw Simpkins top scorer on 37 and Mike Williams weighing in with an unbeaten 31.

Adam Betts snapped three wickets and Andrew Fletcher picked up two wickets.

Rob Mansfield again led the way for Llechryd with a fine knock of 46 and Paul Beasley contributed 25.

Despite an unbeaten 94 from opener Richard Thorne it was disappointment for Crymych who sank to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Neyland 2nds.

After the Preselimen were dismissed for 160 the home side got the runs for the loss of four wickets and banked 30 points.

Paul Miller was best of the home batsmen with an unbeaten 63.
