Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies holders Cardigan Town roared into the final with a fine all-round team showing in springing a 4-1 win over Crannog at Parc Emlyn in midweek.

Cardigan will have to wait until this week to know whether they meet Newcastle Emlyn or Bargod Rangers in the final – Emlyn went through after a 2-0 win but Rangers have lodged a protest claiming their opponents included an ineligible player.

It was another first-rate performance with some delightful one-touch football and with pitches now drying surfaces will suit the Magpies who are still in the running to retain four of the five trophies they captured last season.

Crannog with Huw Reed and Chris Welch inspirational huffed and puffed but were outplayed for lengthy periods and could have no complaints about the result.

Talented 16-year-old striker Liam Doherty put Cardigan ahead when latching on to a ball over the defence and hit an unstoppable half-volley past Huw Morgan.

Goalkeeper Casey Walters was at fault for Crannog’s equaliser when allowing a Welch free kick from distance to slip through his hands into the net.

The Magpies were back in the ascendancy before the break thanks to sweeper and skipper Steve Blackford who fired into the top corner of the net.

As the holders continued to dominate after the break Doherty crossed accurately for Chris Morgan to net with a low shot and the tie was put beyond Crannog when a Blackford free kick was adjudged by referee Alan Jenkins and a linesman to have crossed the line.
