On bitterly cold days the sound of leather on willow may seem a very long way away but cricket practice gets underway at Llandysul this week in preparation for the start of the South Wales League Division One.

The firsts will again be led by middle order batsman Darrel Griffiths and the club is hoping classy opener Rhydian Harries regains fitness following a horrendous knee injury playing at outside half for Newcastle Emlyn RFC which has sidelined him throughout this season.

The Second X1 in Division Five will be led by all-rounder Huw Evans, known for his former prowess as a footballer with Newcastle Emlyn.

In addition to Sunday Cup games and various friendlies the Teifisiders will run junior teams at under nine, 11, 13 and 15 and training for the juniors will begin in a few weeks.

Net sessions begin this Friday and every week in the Leisure Centre at Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi between 6pm and 8pm when a warm welcome is extended to old and new players.
