FRENNI Junior School pupil Elis Humfryes of Llechryd has been awarded not one, but two glass trophies, for his success in motor cross racing across Wales.

The keen 10 year old, son of Tim and Jayne, won the ORPA Dredgers Laugharne MXC 100 cc Quads Welsh Championship award as well as taking the Club Championship Quads trophy.

Elis has only been competing for four years. His first race was at Bancyfelin near Carmarthen when he entered the Class 2 Mini Quad race when he was six years old. His sister Mari, 13 who attends Preseli School, also races and has had success over the years and now competes in the 250cc class.

"It all started when Elis’s uncle Steven brought over a quad to try out and after that day Elis was hooked. He has a real buzz from racing and enjoys competing," explained a delighted mum Jayne.

And father Tim added: "We are very proud and Elis has worked really hard. He’s improving all the time. We have the option of moving up a class next year, but we aren’t sure what we are going to do."
