DESPITE a 23-point haul from a draw at Pembroke Dock on the final day Llechryd failed by ten points to gain promotion in Division Three of the Pembrokeshire League

Llechryd posted a more than useful 201-7 thanks to opener Michael Carter who scored heavily all round the wicket in a brilliant innings of 105 which included 15 boundaries. He was given excellent support by Gwinian Howell who made 46.

The homesters looked like going down to defeat but clung on by their fingertips and were tottering on 153-9 at the close.

Ajeesh Thanammakal took three wickets and there were two apiece for Adam Maehrlein and Graham Keen.

Also in the third division Crymych ended on a low note when losing by 61 runs against visitors Neyland 2nds at Glandy Cross.

Neyland went along at a good rate in posting 202-9 with Jason Oakley hitting eight boundaries in a fine knock of 73.

Dai Jenkins and Mark Thomas took three wickets apiece.

Despite a great innings of 90 by Richard Thorne the Preselimen were dismissed for 141.
