THERE were shock waves in south Ceredigion football circles when news filtered through that last season’s all-conquering Cardigan Town were blown away 9-0 by Goodwick United in the annual Eddy Merry Memorial Tournament at Fishguard.
The Pembrokeshire League high-flyers, in their fourth pre-season friendly were razor sharp and gave a clear indication that they are equipped to make a big challenge for the Division One championship next season.
Not taking anything away from United it has to be said that due to unavailability of players the Costcutter League champions had only four with first team experience and manager Seamus Doherty included half a dozen or so 16 and 17-year-olds.
