HAVING gone up through the divisions in a relatively short period of time, Llandysul are faced with a fight for survival after promotion last season to Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association.

Relegation in the top flight is developing into a scrap between bottom of the pile Llangennech, Swansea Civil Service and third from bottom Llandysul with the bottom two going down. All three have won two of nine games.

As the second half of the campaign gets underway this Saturday the Teifisiders are involved in a crunch clash at Llangennech.

When the rivals met at Tir-Dref on the opening day Llandysul came out on top by six wickets but with a tremendous amount at stake that result is unlikely to have a bearing on the game at The Park.

The following Saturday skipper Darrel Griffiths and team-mates face another big challenge when Swansea Civil Service are the visitors.

Llandysul will not need reminding that on the second day of the season at Swansea the homesters romped to an eight-wicket triumph.

Prior to the start of the campaign Llan chairman Aled Jones was realistic about the challenge facing the club and said the aim was consolidation.

Completing the double over Llangennech and reversing the result against the Civil Service would go a long way towards achieving this.
