PROMOTED Llandysul slid further towards the relegation zone in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association after an 84-run defeat at Gowerton.

The reversal has left the Teifisiders in a perilous position three places off the bottom and there is unlikely to be a respite this Saturday when leaders Clydach provide the opposition at Tir-Dref.

Gowerton made good progress with opener Arwel Thomas scoring all round the wicket in a fine innings of 75 which included eleven fours. He was given support by middle order batsmen Andrew Jones (29) and Ian Capon (30).

Arfon Jones had figures of 3-45 off ten overs while Andrew Edwards, Irfon Thomas and Ieuan Paske took two wickets apiece.

In the Llandysul reply Tom Harris (26) and Ieuan Paske (13) shared an opening stand of 32 but despite a number of contributions, including an unbeaten 29 from skipper Darrel Griffiths at number five the visitors struggled against seamer Arwel Thomas who returned figures of 6-32 and were all out for 132 in 43 overs.
