HIT by the worst player unavailability for a considerable time Llandysul paid the price in the South Wales Cricket Association as the seniors were brushed aside by Dafen in Division One and the second string suffered a similar fate against their Maesteg Celtic counterparts in Division Five.

Winning the toss and electing to bat Dafen went along at a rate of knots with middle order batsmen Jonathan Randell (26), Kelvin Bartle (25) and Ieuan Rosser (42) making useful contibutions.

The biggest setback to the visitors was a big-hitting partnership of 74 in eleven overs between Dafydd Nicholas (48 not out) and Gareth Hughes (34 not out) as the homesters posted 206 for the loss of five wickets.

Seamers Adrian Davies and Arfon Jones picked up two wickets apiece for the visitors.

As the Teifisiders replied ex-Glamorgan academy paceman Scott Phillips bowled eight accurate overs and picked up a cheap wicket and at the other end seamer Mathew Evans claimed six wickets for 39 runs from 9.4overs.

Despite a patient unbeaten 29 from skipper Darrel Griffiths the Teifi Valley men were all out for 68 that left them bottom but one in the top flight.

Also fielding an inexperienced team Llandysul Seconds went down to an eight-wicket defeat against their Maesteg Celtic counterparts at Tir Dref.

The hosts were skittled for 81 and the visitors got the runs for the loss of one wicket.
