ELECTING to bat on a docile Tir Dref strip appeared the right decision by Llandysul skipper Darrel Griffiths when his side posted 191-8 in their allotted 50 overs in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association.

But a second victory of the season did not materialise as Briton Ferry Steel dug deep and clung on for a losing draw on 162-8.

The Teifisiders were given a the ideal start with Gary Williams (35) and Gareth Lanagan (33) sharing in a second wicket stand of 72 and skipper Griffiths held things together in the middle order with a well-compiled 34.

Spinners Craig Evans and Chris Burgess and seamer Rhys Norgrove were the wicket-takers for Steel.

Bowling line and length left-arm seamer Adrian Davies struck early for Llandysul with the wicket of Craig Evans who was caught by Iestyn Evans and skipper Lee Williams fell to leave his side on 19-2.

The visitors lost three quick wickets against seamer Iestyn Evans and the run out of Steve Devonald for 38 left them on 140-8.

But Norgrove and Rhys Maddock stayed together for eight overs to force a draw.
