CARDIGAN Town Football Club will need a bigger trophy cabinet as teams at all levels capture silverware including the Under 18s who lifted the Costcutter League Youth Cup with a 4-2 win over St Dogmaels at Ffostrasol.

The Magpies, who comprised a mixture of first and second team players, fully deserved to lift the trophy after outplaying their neighbours for lengthy periods and with a little more steadiness in the final third of the pitch would have won by a wider margin.

Playing up the slope during the opening 45 minutes Town led by a solitary goal, the breakthrough coming via striker Tomos Toft whose 20-yarder flew into the top corner giving Justin Smith no chance.

As the Magpies continued in the ascendancy during the second period Louis Harding and Iwan Jones, both members of the first team squad, made it 3-0 after good passing movements.

Saints switched first team goalkeeper Smith to a striking role for the final quarter and he gave his side hope with a well-taken goal to reduce the arrears.

But the result was put beyond doubt when Harding ghosted past three would-be tacklers and finished clinically.

League vice-chairman Rhys Evans presented the coveted trophy to Louis Harding.
