What could be better on a cold, wet, dark Wednesday evening, after a hard day’s work than relaxing on the settee watching the TV. Well, if you’re a member of Cardigan Running Club how’s about meeting at 6.30pm, at the Leisure Centre, donning a headlamp and heading out in the darkness for a run with a few other like- minded souls. Now I can understand why this might not immediately appeal but the streets and lanes of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire really do look and feel different at night. The daytime distractions are gone, replaced by the sights and sounds of the evening, whether that is a small animal rustling leaves in trees or the barking of a dog excited by their evening stroll with its owner. You’ll need to wear a few layers and maybe hat and gloves, if it’s cold and/or a waterproof if it rains but you’ll be surprised how warm you get in a short space of time. There may always be a reason (excuse?) not to go out and run but ask anyone who does and they rarely regret doing so and besides you’ll be back home and on the settee by 8.30pm at the latest but with the satisfying glow of having had some fine exercise in good company. New members are always made welcome, just come along any Wednesday or call Hilary McCarthy 0779 108465, Jane Wilkins 0789 1026691 or Tony Dyer 0776 1135532 for more information.
