The Cardigan Town and St Dogmaels bandwagons continued rolling as the Magpies completed a nap hand of victories when emerging impressive 5-1 winners at Lampeter and Saints got out of trouble to maintain their one hundred per cent record with a 3-1 win over visitors Crannog.

Given that these are early days and there is a very long way to go it is already clear that Cardigan Town, who recruited wisely during the summer, are a force to be reckoned with and it is hardly surprising many followers are already tipping the Magpies for honours.

Town are improving with every game and in turning on the style against fancied Lampeter Town at North Road gave a clear indication that they will be hard to beat.

The local derby clash with arch-rivals Saints at King George V Playing Field on Boxing Day is already being looked forward to and could be quite a spectacle.

After the game Lampeter skipper Luke Lovell was quick to acknowledge that he and his colleagues were outplayed virtually throughout and that the Magpies were a slick outfit.

Cardigan went into the game without four regulars who were unavailable including multi-talented former Haverfordwest midfielder cum striker Kevin Morgan.

Another huge plus for Town was the inclusion on the bench of ex-Aberystwyth Town Academy star Samba Nadong who was drafted on during the second half and showed he can be one of the Costcutter League stars of the season.

The visitors led by two goals at the break, the first netted by Slawomir Slovak Waleczek and the second with aplomb by speedy front-runner John Lumb after the spadework was done by Ben Davies who together with James Evans pulled the strings in midfield.

Lampeter had a bit of a purple patch early in the second period when Jason Jones halved the deficit but Nadong ended the game as a serious contest when leaving goalkeeper Dafydd Rees motionless from 20 yards before further strikes by Lumb and central defender Alun ‘Gotrel’ Williams made it a bit of a cakewalk.

With just twelve minutes left on the clock a major upset appeared on the cards at School Field in St Dogmaels where sluggish Saints trailed to a George Colven goal for Crannog.

But manager Steve Jerry Williams, back on the touchline after a lengthy suspension imposed towards the end of last season, made three inspirational substitutions in bringing on 16-year-old Rhys Jones, Richard Connolly and John Williams.

The introduction of the three turned the game on its head. With his first touch young Jones netted a diving header and also played a part in further goals by Sam Hall and Dan Bellis.
