Although there is a ring of inevitability about relegation for Llechryd after one season in Division Two at least the Teifi Valley villagers are determined to go down fighting as they showed by springing a 47-run win at Hook.

Batting first the visitors were indebted to opener Michael Carter for holding the innings together as he made 26, and after wickets fell at regular intervals it was left to an unlikely source in the form of super veteran bowler Peter Betterley to star with the bat.

The lower order man took a liking to the Hook attack as he sent the ball to all points of the compass in an innings of 73, one of his scoring shots a flashing cover drive right out of the top drawer.

David Hopkins returned figures of 2-36.

Hook opening batsman Jake Wicks made a well-compiled 29 and Brennan Lay weighed in with 15 but with Llechryd skipper John Curran (2-17) and Graham Keen (3-38) bowling line and length the homesters were dismissed for 115.

Crymych remain in fifth in Division Three after an away draw against second in the table Camrose & Spittal which saw the Preselimen pick up 12 points.

The home side made 172-6 in their allotted overs, the main contributors Martin Jones (66) and Dan Wilkes (42) while Alan Luke picked up two wickets.

With front-line batsman Osian Wyn (58) in good fettle and Marc Thomas giving excellent support with 24 Crymych went along merrily but wickets began to fall and at the end the visitors were tottering on 154-9.

Llechryd Seconds are making a bold bid for promotion in Division Five, the Teifisiders notching their seventh victory of the term at the expense of their St. Ishmaels counterparts at the Castell Malgwyn ground.

As the homesters were dismissed for 115 Rhys beard (32) and John Beard (24) were the mainstays while Kevin Bowen picked up three wickets for Saints.

The visitors struggled against accurate bowling by Alex Smith (2-4) and Mark Newell (3-9) and were all out for 72, only Mark Mathias (34) putting up any real resistance.
