The Ceredigion Bowling Association Division One title race between the top two Lampeter and Cardigan remains in the balance after the Cardis inflicted a nine-shot defeat on the pacesetters.

After the result on the Gwbert Road green Lampeter have two games remaining and if picking up maximum points from the game at Tregaron and home against New Quay will finish with 135 points.

Neville Morgan and his Cardigan team-mates, who have three games left starting at Tregaron tomorrow followed by home advantage against New Quay and Aberystwyth can reach 134 points.

The only winning Cardigan rink was skipped by club captain Neville Morgan and also included Dilwyn Jones, Dai Williams and Alun Parsons. Steve Entwistle skipped the best Lampeter rink alongside Ron Thomas, Emyr Thomas and Robert Wright.

Afterwards Lampeter secretary Eddie Thomas said “We are not counting our chickens as the title race could go all the way to the wire.”
