On Tuesday, the Cilgerran Short-Mat Bowling Club met to hold their sixth Ossie Bravey competition. Fourteen members attended and were paired up to play their games. The usual adult members were joined this time by three youngsters who played exceedingly well.
Aled Breese with Jackie Savidge defeated Jeane Worthington and Gareth Breese; Rita Willis and Val Clack were defeated by Hywel Williams and Ronnie Hind; and finally Margaret Morley with Michael Martin defeated Max Worthington and Dick Savidge.
The best losers, Jeane and Gareth then went up against Kate Flinn with Barry Greenfield who won comfortably to go into the Final. Meanwhile Jackie and Aled overcame Ronnie and Hywel.
With some commendable bowling by all concerned, the Final was won by Margaret and Michael.
Ossie's widow, Ann Bravey, presented the shield to the victorious winners (see picture) and thanked all for the organisation of the evening.
