The most prestigious event on the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) Wales Shotokan karate calendar was recently held in Rhydycar, Merthyr Tydfil. The Welsh Championships 2014 saw students from all over Wales compete for their club and individual titles. Tekki RS was out in force and was well represented from students from all six clubs, Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Newcastle Emlyn, Llandysul, Cardiff and Cwmbran. The standard was exceptionally high throughout the tournament from the new kyu grades, of which many had never competed before, to the regular dan grades and Tekki RS achieved many medals in various categories. The highest accolade possible was awarded to Tekki RS as the Best Club in Wales 2014 with the following medallists from Emlyn & Llandysul clubs contributing to the illustrious title:
12-15yrs Girls Kata - Harriet Roper
12-15yrs Boys Kata - Charlie Roper 1st
12-15yrs Girls 5ft3 under- Lily Rees Joint 3rd
10-11yrs Girls Kumite - Bethany Nelson Joint 3rd
Junior Team Kata - Charlie Roper, Harriet Roper, Elin Jones
12-15yrs Girls 5ft3 over - Harriet Roper 2nd
12-15yrs Boys 5ft3 over - Charlie Roper 2nd
12-15yrs Boys 5ft3 under - Eddie Roper 1st
Junior Male Kumite - Stef Rees 2nd
Male Team Kumite - Stef Rees Joint 3rd
