History was made at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday May 19th as Crymych under 14’s won the Scarlets Cup. The same team of players had previously won the cup two years ago and so become the first team ever from Pembrokeshire to win the cup for a second time.

The 2013-2014 season proved to be very successful for this talented and committed group of players, winning all 19 games played through the season, playing all over Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and as far as Loughor.

The team travelled to the Pembrokeshire Cup Finals Day, kindly sponsored by The Blue Lagoon, where they played against Fishguard. Crymych proved too strong for the Seagulls, winning convincingly by 50 points to 0.

Two weeks later, looking very smart in their shirts and ties, kindly sponsored by Carwyn James of Glandy Cross Fish and Chips, it was Bury Port, Carmarthenshire cup winners who awaited Crymych at Parc y Scarlets. The first ten minutes proved to be a bruising affair, with some seriously ‘BIG HITS’ going in from both sides. The big strong Crymych pack then began to dictate matters giving quality ball to the backs, who in turn ran in a rush of tries with slick handling and plenty of speed to outpace the opposition. With 15 minutes remaining on the clock the game was stopped with Crymych famously winning 50-0.

Huge congratulations to all the team pictured here with the Scarlets Cup.

Coaches Gareth Wilson, Hedd Davies, Dyfrig George, Siôn Davies and Rhys (Biki) Davies wish to thank all the players for their commitment and parents for their support throughout the season.

May the success continue!
