Llandysul stayed on course for promotion in Division Two of the South Wales Cricket Association after a four-wicket win over Bronwydd at Tir-Dref – the Teifisiders’ fourth win of the term.

They will be hoping to make it five successes this Saturday when visiting Llangennech who are one place and five points behind them in fourth spot.

Winning the toss and electing to bat the visitors made steady progress with openers Byron Jones (17) and Oliver Furnace putting on 23 before the latter was caught by Steffan Griffiths off Iwan Davies for 12 and soon afterwards James Cole was on his way back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers after he was caught by Rhydian Harries off Andrew Edwards.

George Gleeson at number four then got his head down for the visitors with a fine innings of 54 before being snapped up by Edwards.

Bronwydd reached a respectable 174 for 9 in their 50 overs as all-rounder Andrew Edwards bowled line and length in returning figures of 5-41, Iwan Davies picked up two wickets and there was one apiece for Rhydian Harries and Meinir Paske.

In the Llandysul reply Rhydian Harries was bowled by Tom Gleeson for five and at 84-4 there were some anxious faces in the home dressing room.

But Meilir Hughes at number five steadied the boat with 44 before being caught and bowled by George Gleeson. Edryd Jones contributed 27 and Andrew Edwards carried on where he left off with the ball in making an undefeated 22 and Llandysul got home by four wickets in 42.5 overs.
