Newcastle Emlyn secured their biggest win in Division Two West when handing out a 50-0 hiding to second-placed Skewen at Ddol Wyber.

Also in this neck of the woods Crymych went down at Cwmllynfell in Division One West while Cardigan were outclassed by Tenby United in Division Three West.

Whilst it has to be said that it was a shadow Skewen side – Saturday marked the wedding of skipper Rees Jenkins – the Teifisiders could only win with something in hand which they achieved by dominating from start to finish.

The Red and Whites led 8-0 after the opening 40 minutes, their points coming from a try by fullback Sion Leonard and a penalty by outside half Rhydian Harries.

As the floodgates opened after the break the homesters were awarded a penalty try and further scores came via props Emrys Davies and Dai Jones, right-winger Steve Jones and centre Alun Howells. Fly half Harries landed four conversions and left winger Dan Davies got two.

This weekend Emlyn will be hoping to complete a double over visitors Seven Sisters.

Despite a spirited fightback during the second half Crymych went down 28-17 against Cwmllynfell who completed the double over the Preselimen having won 21-19 at Parc Lloyd Thomas back in October.

Two tries by centre Gareth Dewson and Rhodri Best, one of the scores converted by outside half Peter Thomas who landed two penalties gave Cwm a 20-point advantage after the opening 40 minutes. Dyfan Dafydd landed a penalty for the visitors.

The Bryn Park high-flyers were restricted to a solitary try during the second period when Crymych got tries through hooker Trystan Griffiths and centre Carwyn Phillips, both scores converted by Dafydd.

The north Pembrokeshire men are next in action on March 22 when Kidwelly are the visitors.

When Cardigan hosted Tenby United in October the visitors were forced to pull out the stops in emerging 12-7 winners but it was an entirely different story at Heywood Lane where the Seasiders romped it 81-8.

As the Pembrokeshire men broke through a wafer thin defence almost at will they crossed for 12 tries and led 43-3 at the interval.

No. 8 Roy Osborn led the home try romp with a hat-trick, outside half Lloyd Thomas and centre Jack Price got a brace apiece and the other scores came via Jack Geirreiro, Luke Dedman, Will Crockforth, Luke Hansford and Toby Smith. Thomas converted nine of the tries and added a penalty for a personal haul of 31 points.

The Cardis will be hoping for a change of fortune of Saturday when they visit Llandeilo.
