CRYMYCH teenager Llion Harries, who once featured in the hit TV series One Man And His Dog steps into an entirely different sporting arena at Newcastle Emlyn RFC on Friday night (February 28).

The 18-year-old rugby player makes his boxing debut against Swansea light-welterweight Brandon Miles (Premier ABC) as Cardigan ABC stage the first boxing show ever held in the town.

Harries is the grandson of former Welsh boxing international Jimmy Davies, of Newport, who clocked up over 150 bouts in his distinguished amateur career.

“Llion’s a very strong boy, built like a brick outhouse, and boxing clearly runs in his DNA,” said Cardigan coach Guy Croft.

The bill also includes Cardigan heavyweight Dan Butler’s return against Trostre’s Oliver Didcott who outpointed him at the club’s last show at Mathry in November.

“Dan has never really fulfilled his potential and this is the night when we really hope he can deliver,” said Croft. “Dan is very confident of turning the tables on Didcott.”

Another Cardigan boxer seeking revenge is Eglwswrw 16-year-old Emyr Simmons who gets a rematch with Bridgend’s Bradley Pearce who won a points decision when the pair clashed at Mathry.

Other Cardigan boxers in action include schoolboys Corey Hayes and Tom Morris while strenuous efforts are still being made to find suitable opponents for Welsh champions Ioan and Garan Croft.

*Tickets, priced at £10, will be on the door on the night (£5 for kids).
