Darts star Jamie Lewis of Cardigan starts his third senior Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Pro Tour season in Wigan this weekend aiming to break into the top 32 in the world.

The 22-year-old has improved steadily since switching from the British Darts Organisation and in the past year caused heads to turn when reaching the final of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy as part of the European tour. He beat Colin Osborne, Robert Thornton, Steve Brown, Kevin Painter and two-times world champions Adrian Lewis before losing in the final against the legendary Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor.

Lewis qualified for the World Championship and the Cardigan ace was on the shortlist for the PDC Young Player of the Year and the Most Improved Player of the year. There were only four nominations in each category.

If Lewis obtains a top 32 place he would qualify for all the top tournaments and be seeded.

“I’ve been putting in the hours on the practice board, am looking forward to the new season and hopefully a top 32 ranking,” he said.
