St Dogmaels and Lampeter Town could have blown their chances of winning the Division One championship and handed leaders Newcastle Emlyn a massive advantage after defeats at the hands of reigning champions New Quay and Bargod Rangers respectively.

After good results of late understrength St Dogmaels went down 5-3 against the Seasiders at Parc Arthur while Town lost 1-0 on their own North Road stamping ground against Rangers.

Front-runner Bryn Evans fired Quay ahead from the penalty spot early on and Gareth Evans also netted while the league’s leading marksman Trevor Woodgate bagged a brace for the visitors.

Gareth Evans regained the lead for the Seasiders before Jason Williams squared matters and then Charlie Dent and Ryan Beauchamp made it plain sailing.

Lampeter Town were seen by many as hot favourites against Rangers but the Parc Puw men were in the ascendancy for lengthy periods and victory was no more than their efforts deserved.

The all-important goal came on the hour when midfielder Dan Evans blasted home from long range.

Cardigan Town banked maximum points for the sixth time in ten outings and hammered another nail into the Aberaeron Reserves relegation coffin with a 5-1 win at King George V Playing Field.

Although suffering another defeat Aeron showed considerable promise and with goalkeeper Barry Edwards and Steff Griffiths back in the fold it is surely only a matter of time before they open their account for the season.

Dynamic duo John Lumb and Kevin Morgan were again outstanding for Town as both netted twice and Dan Nash also got in on the act. Teenage right midfielder Jason Davies oozed class for the homesters and showed he has a big future in the game.

Seven days after a disappointing performance at Llandysul when going down 2-0 Maesglas bounced back and buried Llanybydder under a 12-goal avalanche at Maes Radley.

Attacking livewire Jeremy Pendragon led the rout with five goals and the other marksmen were Gwion Howell (2), Ashley Summers (2), Craig Gordon, Ricky Woods and Darren Davies.
