Newcastle Emlyn of Division Two West reached round three of the WRU Swalec Plate with a 17-0 win over Division Three West strugglers Haverfordwest at Ddol Wyber.

Although it was rather straightforward for the division two outfit in the end a great deal of credit must go the visitors who defended resolutely during the second period and kept the Red and Whites at bay for lengthy periods.

The Blues had the elements in their favour during the opening 40 minutes but trailed to a try by No. 8 Alex Williams which went unconverted.

After the break the Teifisiders sprang further tries through openside flanker Owain Howell and winger Llyr Jones with outside half Rhydian Harries landing a conversion.

Cardigan of Division Three West have been hit by injuries and failing to field a recognised front row forfeited the away tie against Felinfoel of Division Two West.
