IN the Ceredigion Short-Mat Bowls League games last week there was a major achievement for last season's wooden spoon holders, Orllwyn, who held Rhydlewis to a draw. It was the triples and fours who won their games, whilst Rhydlewis's Ceri Jones and Wyn and Medwyn who played true to form to win the Singles and Pairs.
Capel Dewi continue their wonderful start by taking 7 points off Manordeifi - thus being handsomely in the lead whilst leaving their visitors in a position they have not been in for a very long time - bottom!
Mydroilyn are still able to use their newly-sanded home floor to advantage by taking 6 points off Penrhiwllan, whilst Tygwydd were unable to do as visiting Pencnwc grabbed their 6 points. You see Tygwydd, you need a sander!
Dolphins Triples were able to reJoyce as they held on to their slender lead and take two points off their club-colleagues, Aberporth, whereas the Dolphin's pairs were left wondering what went wrong as they were 6-2 up half-way through the game, only to stay on that 6 until a consolation single was earned on the final end, by which time Aberporth pair had the game sown up!
Finally Cilgerran played their first match and secured all the points off Llechryd who have a number of new players that one day will be a force to be reckoned with. The Pairs and the Triples of Cilgerran both fought back from 'certain defeat' to clinch their games.
