MORE than 100 uninsured drivers and riders have been stopped by police in Pembrokeshire in the first five months of the year.

Posting on Twitter, Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit stated that 107 uninsured vehicle users had been dealt with up to the end of May.

The unit has used Twitter to post details of many of those stopped in the county.

Tweets for May included: May 14.

“Vehicle seized in Neyland this evening. Being driven by a provisional licence holder without adequate supervision, therefore also invalidating the insurance policy... Reported for driving otherwise than in accordance and with no insurance.”

May 13.

“Vehicle stopped in Carew this afternoon. Driver only held a provisional licence and her supervising passenger was disqualified... Driver reported for otherwise than in accordance and no insurance, passenger reported for permitting both offences.”

May 12.

“Uninsured vehicle stopped in Neyland this morning. Driver reported and vehicle seized.

May 11.

“Vehicle stopped in Haverfordwest this evening, insurance cancelled two days ago for payment issues. New policy taken out and driver reported.”

May 10.

“Vehicle seized for No Insurance in Crundale this morning following a stop-check, uninsured since March 5. Driver reported according.

“Second uninsured vehicle dealt with today, this time in Pembroke. Uninsured since April 27, driver reported and had the means of taking a new policy out at the roadside.

“Third uninsured vehicle dealt with today, this time in Maenclochog. Driver reported and policy taken out at roadside.”

May 9.

“Uninsured vehicle seized in Pembroke. Policy cancelled by insurers two days ago due to payment issues and the driver attempting to use his full no claims bonus on two separate vehicles.

“Second uninsured vehicle of the day dealt with following a stop-check in Haverfordwest. Driver was able to take a new policy out at the roadside, reported for no insurance.

“Third uninsured vehicle taken off your roads today, this time in Carew. Driver reported for driving otherwise than in accordance and with no insurance, vehicle seized. Thanks to @DPPoliceDogs for their help with the stop.”
