WITH 54,000 people descending on Swansea this weekend to see some of the biggest names in music, here’s everything you need to know about the Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend.

What is the Biggest Weekend?

The Biggest Weekend is four one-off music festivals taking place in Belfast, Perth, Swansea and Coventry this bank holiday weekend.

The two-day Swansea event starts on Saturday, May 26 and continues on to Sunday, May 27.

Up to 54,000 people are expected to attend across the two days.

When do Gates open?

Gates open at 10.30am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.

The first act will be Ed Sheeran on Saturday, starting at noon.  He’s on early because he is also booked to play in Manchester on the same day.

Rita Ora kicks off Sunday, also starting at noon.

Who’s on, when and where?

There are two stages at the event, a Main Stage and Radio 1’s Other Stage.

Saturday will see Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Craig David and Jess Glynne perform

On Sunday Florence and the Machine, Taylor Swift, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Rita Ora.

Driving?

Coming from South Pembrokeshire - take the A477 leaving at the roundabout for the A40 in Saint Clears.

Coming from Haverfordwest and North Pembrokeshire – take the A40.

For both routes change to the A48 before going on to the M4.

Exit the M4 at Junction 47 and follow the signs for Swansea on the A483.

Follow the signs for Singleton Hospital and after around 2.5 miles turn right at the major set of light following signs for the Gower.

Follow the A4216 and turn right at the 2nd mini roundabout. Continue following the signs for Singleton Hospital and then signs for the event car parks.

Getting the park and ride?

A park and ride service will be in operation for this event from Fabian Way Park and Ride site (J47 off the M4 off the A483).

Both days the service will run approximately every 10-15 minutes from 7am – 12:30pm.

There will be a reduced service from 12.30-6pm before picking up again from 6pm until everyone is returned.

It costs £5 per vehicle plus a booking fee.

Drop off point is roughly 800m from the arena.

Going by train?

The closest railway station in is Swansea High Street, which is around 2 miles away. There is a taxi rank outside the station.

Going on foot?

From Swansea City Centre, Singleton Park is approximately a 25-minute walk.

Road Closures?

De La Beche Road and Gower Road (between De La Beche Road and Eversley Road) will be a no parking area from 8pm on Friday, May 25 to 6am, Monday, May 28.

De La Beche Road will be one-way only (east to west) from 8pm on Friday, May 25 to 6am, Monday, May 28.

Brynmill Lane between Gower Road and Mumbles Road will be closed to traffic from 10pm on Friday, May 25, to 6am, Monday, May 28.

Gower Road (between De La Beche Road and Eversley Road) and Mumbles Road (between Sketty Lane and Gorse Lane) will be closed to traffic from approximately 9pm to 11.45pm on both concert days.

Diversion signs will be set up to assist traffic flows in the area but it is expected to be very busy, particularly at the times when the concerts end.

Council Parking Enforcement Officers will be operating in the area over the event weekend to monitor indiscriminate or illegal car parking in order to help minimise disruption for residents
